CEE & Fit N Fun are currently enrolling for the 2009-2010 school year. Classes are filling quickly but we still have availability in some classrooms so please call or stop by the office for more information.

We began the third quarter of art with an artist study about Dale Chihuly’s works. To give students a deeper understanding of Chihuly’s work, we took 2 classrooms on a field trip to the Dale Chihuly exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. The exhibition features new and unique works of glass artfully located throughout the garden. Dale Chihuly is known for his innovative glass sculptures, and his work is immediately recognizable for its grand scale and vibrant colors. Mrs. Youkers is planning field trips to the exhibition for the rest of the 4th -6th grades this month.

The Chihuly field trip for the upper grades at the Botanical Gardens was a great success. We are following up this semester by constructing a sculpture from glass. This will be a five class project and will be displayed in the front lobby. Lower grades are watching the Chihuly videos and will then be making art projects in his style.

Kindergarten classes are making spring art projects using painting techniques and will also be making a small sculpture project using glass jars. This has been a fun packed year and these final projects will close out our art program. Be sure to watch for the Chihuly art work to be displayed and your student’s final art projects to come home.
